循环流化床锅炉是被国际公认的高效、低污染的清洁燃烧技术，是国家重点鼓励和发展的环保节能项目。该锅炉具有燃烧效率高，负荷调节范围大，无需加装脱硫、脱硝装置即可实现90%脱硫率，满足环保要求，以经济的方式解决大气污染题目，而且煤种适应性广，排出的灰渣活性好，轻易实现综合利用。目前国内300MW等级循环流化床锅炉消化引进阿尔斯通技术，和常规煤粉锅炉相比主要在燃烧系统方面存在差异其具有如下特点：
通常锅炉四角分别布置4个返料器和4个外置流化床，外置床中布置了中温过热器，低温过热器和高温再热器等锅炉受热面。
锅炉左右两侧配有风道燃烧器，每侧风道燃烧器含有两支油枪，床上左右两侧各配有4支床上油枪。
风烟系统中一次风作为主要流化风，二次风分上中下分级送风助燃，多路流化风对返料器、外置床等受热室起到流化作用。
风烟系统中灰循环的公道建立是锅炉稳定燃烧的重要条件，也是控制床温、再热汽温的基础。
